Born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado, Christine Nufer is currently a junior at Colorado State University-Pueblo. She is pursuing a degree in Music Performance as a pianist with a minor in Piano Pedagogy, under the guidance of Dr. Zahari Metchkov.

Christine completed her kindergarten through 12th grade schooling at Colorado Virtual Academy, and graduated in May 2016 as the salutatorian of her class, with a GPA of 4.4. She has been on the Dean’s List at CSU-Pueblo for every semester in which she has been enrolled. She was co-recipient of the 2012 Valente scholarship for piano tuition, and is currently receiving both a music scholarship from the CSU-Pueblo Foundation and the Presidential Scholar Merit Award. She was the 2017 recipient of the Student Leadership through Service Award, which recognizes a student’s contribution to the musical community.

Christine has been studying piano since the age of seven, first as a student of Ms. Jennifer Ritter and, more recently, Ms. Elizabeth Zawadowski. Beginning in 2011 and continuing through her entrance into college, she was a participant in the annual Southern Colorado Music Teachers Association festival. As a college student, she has been an eager member of the piano studio, performing in Collaborative Ensemble, Piano Ensemble, and solo capacities. Additionally, Christine is keyboardist for the Pueblo Summer Musical, pianist for the CSU-Pueblo Music Department Chair’s original opera compositions, and Camp Assistant for the Southern Colorado Adventure Music Camp. She is a member of the local, state, and national chapters of the Music Teachers National Association, and also serves as secretary/treasurer and founding member of the CSU-Pueblo MTNA. Christine teaches privately, is concert assistant for the Piano Conversations concert series, and works as the pianist at Wesley United Methodist Church. She is active as a soloist, accompanist, collaborator, and piano teacher as she broadens her musical horizons.
